I hope December will be the month to dream about great things for 2023 and remember 2022.

매년 12월이 오면 늘 다사다난이라는 단어가 생각나게 한다.

코로나 창궐과 우크라이나 전쟁 그리고 치솟는 물가와 독감 그리고 오르기만 하는 이자율 등 모든면에서 그리 쉽지는 않았던 한해 였다.

이렇듯 어렵고 힘든 상황 속에서도 새날을 준비하는 우리 모두는 주변에 있는 사업장과 직장과 가족과 함께 즐겁고 활력 넘치는 성탄과 연말을 맞이할 준비를 하시리라 믿고 있다.

지난일을 돌아보고 한탄하고 후회 하기만 하면 미래는 없다.

그저 교훈으로 새기고 다가올 날들에 대한 각오를 다지는데 타산지석으로 삼아야 할 것이다.

겨울철의 차가운 날씨가 우리의 몸과 마음을 움추리게 하고 경제적으로 침체 된 느낌이 들고 불경기가 코앞에 온 것처럼 불안해 해도 분명한 것은 이 또한 지나간다는 것이다.

그리고 다음날이 되면 또 다른 새날이 온다는 것이 그래도 우리에게는 축복이다.

2022년에는 프로 골프계에 사우디의 넘치는 달러가 LIV라는 이름으로 몇 개의 대회를 성공적으로 치렀다.

필 미켈슨과 저스틴 존슨을 비롯한 유명 선수들이 LIV로 이적하면서 PGA Tour는 긴장했고 오랫동안 독점하던 프로골프 시장의 양분을 염려했다.

절대권력 이든 독점이든 이들은 많은 문제를 만들어 낸다.

적당하게 경쟁하게 하고 긴장하면서 발전하는 것이 모든 이치이며 순리 일 것이다.

그래도 우려 했던 것 보다는 순조롭게 대회가 진행되었고 골프팬들은 PGA투어와는 색다른 이벤트를 즐길수 있었다.

그래서인지 PGA투어 대회장 에서도 컨서트를 한다거나 이벤트를 기획해 주변의 비영리 단체에 보다 많은 관심을 가지고 팬들과 유명 선수들의 이탈을 막으려 애쓴다.

올해 PGA 투어에 혜성 처럼 나타난 20세의 한국청년 김주형의 출연은 세계 골프계를 놀라게 하고도 남을 일이었다.

투어에 특별케이스로 들어온지 불과 몇달만에 2개의 우승을 차지했고 이경훈이 1승을 차지해 3개의 트로피를 들어올렸고 프레지던트 컵 에는 사상 최초로 한국선수가 4명이나 참가하고 두드러지게 좋은 플레이를 보여서 한국 남자 골프의 위상이 한층 올라갔다.

여자 골프 최강국에서 이제 서서히 남자 골프쪽으로 이전 해가는 움직임이다.

물론 여자 골프대회에서는 한국선수들이 불과 4개의 우승컵을 들어 올리는 것으로 시즌을 마쳤다.

다행히 다니엘 강이나 리디아 고 이민지,안드리아 리 같은 한국계 외국 국적 선수들이 7개의 트로피를 들어 올려 다소 위안이 되기는 했지만 19세의 태국출신의 아타야 티티쿨 같은 선수가 나와 한해 2개의 대회에서 우승하고 신인상을 수상하는 기염을 토했다.

좋은 선수들이 세상에 나오는 것은 팬들에게 새로운 기대와 설레임을 준다.

2022년에 잃어 버린 것들이 있다면 수확한 것들도 많으리라 생각된다.

2022년의 모든것을 위만 바라보지 말고 아래를 보면서 위로하고 2023년은 보다 높은 계획으로 준비하는 12월이 되기 바란다.

아쉽고 뭔가 부족한 듯했던 2022년 한해 였지만 그래도 감사 할 일이 많았던 2022년이었다.

이제 움추렸던 가슴을 활짝 열고 2023년 열릴 희망의 새날을 맞이하자.

I wish all of you who wisely overcame 2022 the blessings of Christmas.

In particular, I would like to thank all the readers and advertisers for sponsoring and encouraging the golf champion for 21 years since its foundation in 2001.

 

Whenever December arrives, the phrase “ups and downs” comes to my mind.

It wasn’t an easy year in all aspects, including the coronavirus outbreak, the Ukrainian war, soaring prices, the flu, and rising interest rates.

Even in such a difficult situation, we all believe that we, who are preparing for a new day, will prepare for a pleasant and lively Christmas and the end of the year with our workplaces and families around us.

We should not look back on the past with regrets.

We should just engrave it as a lesson and make up our minds for the days to come.

What is clear is that this also passes, even if the cold weather in winter makes our bodies and minds shrink, which makes us feel economically depressed and anxious as if the recession is just around the corner.

And it is a blessing for us that another new day will come the next day.

In 2022, Saudi Arabia’s overflowing dollar in the professional golf world successfully played several competitions under the name of LIV Golf.

As famous players, including Phil Mickelson and Justin Johnson, moved to LIV Golf, the PGA Tour is worried about the nourishment of the long-held professional golf market.

Whether absolute power or monopoly, they create many problems.

It would be all logic and reason to compete appropriately and develop with tension.

Still, the tournament proceeded more smoothly than expected, and golf fans were able to enjoy a different event from the PGA Tour.

Perhaps that’s why they try to keep the fans and famous players by paying more attention to non-profit organizations around them by holding concerts or planning events at the PGA Tour venue.

The appearance of 20-year-old Korean youngster Kim Joo-hyung, who appeared like a comet on this year’s PGA Tour, surprised the world golf world.

Just a few months after entering the tour as a special case, Lee Kyung-hoon won one victory and lifted three trophies, and for the first time in history, four Korean players participated in the President’s Cup and showed remarkably good play, further enhancing the status of Korean men’s golf.

Of course, the women’s golf tournament ended the season with Korean players lifting only four championship cups.

Fortunately, Korean foreign players such as Danielle Kang, Lydia Ko, Min-ji Lee, and Andrea Lee lifted seven trophies, but a 19-year-old Thai player like Ataya Titikul came out to win two tournaments a year and win the Rookie of the Year award.

The presence of good players in the world gives fans new expectations and excitement.

If there was anything lost in 2022, I think there would also be a lot of harvests.

I hope this December will be the time to look up, but not look down and comfort yourself and prepare for 2023 with a bigger plan.

It was the year that was unfortunate and seemed to lack something, but it was also the year when there were still many things to be thankful for.

Now, let’s open up our shrunken hearts and welcome a new day of hope to be held in 2023.
