뱅크오브 호프 LPGA 매치플레이의 새로운 스타 탄생

태국의 아난나루칸 2홀차 우승

파자리 아난나루칸(Pajaree Anannarukarn)이 뱅크 오브 호프 LPGA 매치 플레이에서 3앤드1로 마무리하며 일본의 아야카 후루에(Ayaka Furue)를 물리치고 우승했다.

LPGA 투어의 가장 긴 주간이었던 이 대회에서 우승자 아난나루칸은 일요일 아침 Shadow Creek에서의 준결승에서 스웨덴의 린 그랜트(Linn Grant)를 상대로 우승했고 오후 2시30분에 시작된 결승 매치에서 지난해 준우승을 차지했던 일본 선수 아야카를 상대로 마지막 대회를 이어갔다.

이대회 우승자 아난나루칸은 LPGA 투어에서 두 번째로 우승하였으며, 2021년 북아일랜드에서 개최된 ISPS 핸다 월드 인비테이셔널과 Ladies European Tour 공동 주관 대회 이후 처음으로 우승했다.

아난나루칸은 17번 홀까지 이어진 긴장되고 어려운 순간들을 극복해내며 마지막 퍼트를 하며 대회를 마무리했고 끝내 눈ㅁ눌을 흘렸다. 아난나루칸은 이번 시즌 LPGA 투어에서 첫 번째 태국선수 우승자로, 미국에서의 첫 번째 투어 우승이다. 아난나루칸은 아따야 티티쿨(2), 모리야 주타누간(2), 자스민 수완나푸라(2) 및 아리야 주타누간(12)과 함께 자신의 경력에서 최소 두 개의 타이틀을 차지한 태국 선수가 되었다.

주타누간 자매, 티티쿨 및 패티 타바타나킷으로 대표되어 2023년 한화 LIFEPLUS 인터내셔널 크라운을 차지했었고 그녀의 시즌 최고 성적은 힐튼 그랜드 배케이션 토너먼트 오브 챔피언스 및 DIO 임플란트 LA 오픈에서의 공동18였다

Pajaree Anannarukarn of Thailand claims victory by 2 holes

(Golf Champion/Las Vegas.NV) Pajaree Anannarukarn of Thailand clinched the victory in the Bank of Hope LPGA Match Play, defeating Ayaka Furue of Japan with a score of 3 and 1. In the tournament, which was the longest week on the LPGA Tour, Anannarukarn emerged as the winner after defeating Linn Grant of Sweden in the semifinals held on Sunday morning at Shadow Creek. She then continued her momentum to the championship match, which started at 2:30 PM, facing Ayaka Furue, who had finished as the runner-up in the previous year’s tournament. This victory marks Anannarukarn’s second win on the LPGA Tour and her first since the ISPS Handa World Invitational in Northern Ireland in 2021, which was a co-sanctioned event with the Ladies European Tour.

Anannarukarn overcame tense and challenging moments throughout the match, culminating in a final putt to finish the tournament and ultimately shed tears of joy. Her victory in the Bank of Hope LPGA Match Play marks her first LPGA Tour win as a Thai player and the first tour victory by a Thai player in the United States. With this win, Anannarukarn joins a select group of Thai players who have secured at least two titles in their careers, including sisters Ariya Jutanugarn (12), Moriya Jutanugarn (2), Atthaya Thitikul (2), and Pajaree herself.

Previously, the Jutanugarn sisters, Thitikul, and Patty Tavatanakit represented Thailand and claimed the 2023 Hana Financial Group LIFEPLUS International Crown. Anannarukarn’s season-best finishes included a T18 at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions and the DIO Implant LA Open.

She now becomes the third champion of the Bank of Hope LPGA Match Play. During the awards ceremony, Kevin Kim, the CEO of Bank of Hope, sincerely congratulated Anannarukarn on her victory, highlighting the tournament as a platform to determine true champions.
